APEC economic law symposium to be held in Jakarta next week.
Japan, Indonesia and Australia will organize a symposium on economic legal systems next week in Jakarta under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Thursday.
The second meeting on the issue will be held July 11-12 with government officials, legal experts, business representatives and academics from APEC member economies, as well as Indonesian citizens, taking part, the ministry said.
The first gathering was held in July 2000 with the aim of seeking how the 21 Pacific-Rim economies would support developing members strengthen their fragile economic systems that helped deepen the impact of the 1997-1998 Asian crisis, it said.
APEC launched the so-called Strengthening of Economic Legal Infrastructure initiative in 1999.
