His 12-year-old brother was treated for minor burns to his face and smoke inhalation. His condition was not available.

Two Los Angeles police officers and a maintenance man were taken to area hospitals where they were being treated for smoke inhalation.

Two residents, including a 32-year-old woman who had difficulty breathing and a 70-year-old woman with a cardiac problem, were treated at the scene.

Arson investigators sifted through the charred debris seeking clues to the cause of the blaze.
