APAQ Names Toreson as Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing.

Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of APAQ APAQ Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly  Technology Inc., a major personal computer systems manufacturer based in Fremont, is pleased to announce the appointment of James Toreson as APAQ's Chief Operating Officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

APAQ Technologies Inc., formerly ASINA, was founded by current Chairman Ming Hsu in January 1992. Hsu's mission was to develop an efficient systems integration operation in North America, including establishing and building strategic relationships with key component suppliers worldwide to offer cutting edge systems at the best price, performance and value.

The appointment of James Toreson brings much promise to the future and continued success of APAQ. Toreson has a strong and successful 29 year history in the electronics industry, including 22 years experience as a CEO. His extensive executive management skills are complemented by a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering.

 Corp., a hard disk controller manufacturer based in San Jose, Calif. With only $5,000 of capital, Toreson grew the company through retained earnings reinvestment to over $30 million by 1982. In 1982, Xebec won a $200 million contract with IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  to design and manufacture a hard disk controller for the PC-XT PC-XT Personal Computer - eXtended Technology  personal computer.

Over the next two years, Xebec grew to $150 million in annual revenue and embarked on a product and diversification strategy that led to the spin-out of several businesses. In 1985, Toreson was featured in a cover story article for Inc. Magazine entitled "Made in the USA: The Case for Manufacturing in America."

One business spun off from Xebec was OMNISHORE Inc., where Toreson served as CEO and president from 1987 until 1990. In its first year, OMNISHORE sales grew to over $10 million. In 1990 Toreson left OMNISHORE to form ONSHORE, a management consulting firm specializing in serving companies involved in computer related products and services.

Toreson's immediate focus will be enhancing and growing APAQ's relationships with its distributor and dealer network.

APAQ Technology Inc. is a major OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  systems integration manufacturer located in Fremont. APAQ's 80,000 square foot systems integration facility is fully equipped with an automated manufacturing line capable of producing 30,000 systems a month. APAQ provides FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  and UL/CUL certification and is an approved Novell Certification Lab with Novell Certification Alliance (NCA (Network Computing Architecture) An architecture from Oracle for developing applications within a networked computing environment. It provides a three-tier distributed environment based on CORBA that uses program components known as "cartridges. ) status.

In addition to its OEM business, APAQ distributes a branded line of computing products through its Columbia Advanced Systems Corp., also located in Fremont. The Columbia branded systems include the Patriot, Titan and Elite Series based on Intel Pentium Processors.
