APENS APENS Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia  Exam

Mark your calendars, because on June 1, 2002, the Adapted Physical Education Adapted physical education is a sub-discipline of physical education. It is an individualized program created for students who require a specially designed program for more than 30 days.  National Standards (APENS) Exam will be administered at 80 plus sites around the U.S., as well as later on October 2nd, just prior to this year's World Congress on Disabilities in Orlando, FL. Special accommodations will be made for candidates traveling long distances to take the exam, and for school districts having several candidates taking the exam. Professionals in higher education, agencies, organizations, or practicing general physical education may be eligible to receive APENS certification via the Grandfather Application process. NCPERID Annual Meeting

July 13-15, 2002, the National Consortium for Physical Education and Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPERID) will host its annual meeting in Washington, DC, at the Crystal City Hilton Hotel. Tentative plans for the NCPERID meeting include a host of professional presenters, a visit to Capital Hill, an awards luncheon, a board meeting, a business meeting, and a social/poster session. If you are interested in submitting an abstract to present at the NCPERID meeting, please contact Heidi Stanish (hstanish@stfx.ca), Carol Huettig (chuettig@twu.edu), or Chris Stopka (cstopka@hhp.ufl.edu).

The Professional Recognition Award was given posthumously to Allen Burton. Dr. Burton was Developmental/Adapted Physical Education Licensure Coordinator at the University of Minnesota (body, education) University of Minnesota - The home of Gopher.

, Twin Cities. Reviews of his accomplishments can be found in Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly, 19(1) and PALAESTRA, 17(4). Dr. Burton was a kind, highly dedicated scholar who impacted the field of adapted physical activity at state, national, and international levels.

The Program Recognition Award went to Oregon State University Oregon State University, at Corvallis; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1858 as Corvallis College, opened 1865. In 1868 it was designated Oregon's land-grant agricultural college and was taken over completely by the state in 1885.  Special Physical and Motor Fitness Clinic, Jeff McCubbin. Oregon State University Special Physical and Motor Fitness Clinic is a university-based motor program for children with special needs. In addition, it serves as an educational and support resource for parents. Drs. Steve Hannigan-Downes and Joonkoo Yun work closely with Dr. McCubbin.

His certifications include identification and reporting of child abuse and maltreatment maltreatment Social medicine Any of a number of types of unreasonable interactions with another adult.
