AT LEAST 15 people were killed and 20 received serious injuries when explosives illegally stocked in a house caught fire and blew up in Guntur district

The fire triggered by a gas cylinder blast ignited gelatin gelatin or animal jelly, foodstuff obtained from connective tissue (found in hoofs, bones, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage) of vertebrate animals by the action of boiling water or dilute acid.  sticks illegally stocked inside the house, resulting in a massive explosion. It was so powerful that nearly 15 neighbouring houses were completely destroyed. According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred around 9 am and could be heard a kilometre away.
