America Online See AOL. , Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, today announced that its AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services. @SCHOOL online learning service has reached more than 36% of K-12 schools just two years after its launch, and that the service is helping to bridge the Digital Divide with schools in less affluent communities most likely to benefit from the free service. Additionally, the company said that its research indicated high levels of product awareness and intention among K-12 educational professionals.

Building on this momentum, AOL@SCHOOL also announced new content alliances with APTE, Artsonia, ipicturebooks and Tritone Music and expanded content from TestU that will bring expand the premier reading, music and art resources available on AOL@SCHOOL.

Launched in May 2000, AOL@SCHOOL is a free service which harnesses the Internet's power in the classroom by offering six age-appropriate learning areas that feature educational content, communications features and special safety tools.

New company research indicates that the fact the service is free and easy-to-use is driving strong adoption of AOL@SCHOOL. The surveys also revealed:

* AOL@SCHOOL is helping to address the digital divide. Schools

most likely to use AOL@SCHOOL software were in less affluent

communities and smaller parochial schools.

* Product awareness is very high among professionals in the K-12

education community. In fact, 84% of non-users were aware of

AOL@SCHOOL and nearly half of this group said it's likely they

will use it in the future.

* Research and age-appropriate content lead the most popular

product features, followed by classroom exercises, filtering

and lesson plans.

The new offerings that will be added to AOL@SCHOOL's premier educational resources as a result of the alliances announced today include:

APTE, Inc. (The Internet Coach): Through APTE, AOL@SCHOOL users will have access to the Internet Coach Puzzle Center to play and create learning puzzles related to AOL@SCHOOL's weekly themes.
