AOL to Increase Price of Its Unlimited Plan by $1.95 Starting in July.

America Online See AOL.  today said that the monthly price of AOL's Unlimited Use plan will increase by $1.95 to $23.90 beginning in the July billing cycle Billing cycle

This is the first time AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services.  has increased the price of its unlimited service option since April 1998, more than three years ago.

Over these three years, America Online has invested more than $3.5 billion in the service to make it even easier, faster, and more reliable. AOL has continually upgraded popular member features such as instant messaging Exchanging text messages in real time between two or more people logged into a particular instant messaging (IM) service. Instant messaging is more interactive than e-mail because messages are sent immediately, whereas e-mail messages can be queued up in a mail server for seconds or , easy-to-use email, and free customer service 24 hours a day by phone. To help keep kids safe online, AOL offers award-winning security and privacy protections.

AOL has also added innovative new services such as You've Got Pictures, Shop@AOL, My Calendar, and AOL PLUS, as well as unique member benefits available only to AOL members, including the AOL/AAdvantage rewards program. During this time, usage on the service has increased more than 50%, with the average member spending as much as 70 minutes per day on the AOL service.

The modest price increase will help fund continued improvements in the AOL service and later this year, AOL will release AOL 7.0, the most recent upgrade of its software. AOL 7.0 will provide increased integration of Local and Broadband content and new advancements in popular destinations such as Personal Finance, Entertainment, News and Sports.

AOL is also continuing to expand its AOL Anywhere services that make popular features such as email and instant messaging available over a broad range of platforms, including the telephone, television and hand-held devices.

AOL's other pricing plans will not be affected by the change.
