At the heart of the campaign is a new series of print, Web and on-air public service announcements (PSAs) in English and Spanish that encourage young Latinos to explore and pursue a college degree.

Featuring celebrities such as actress Rosie Perez, boxer Oscar De La Hoya and author Esmeralda Santiago, the PSA campaign will run nationally across Time Warner Cable systems, in Time Inc. publications and on the AOL service during Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 until October 15, 2002.

Several AOL Time Warner divisions provided creative and in-kind support for this public awareness campaign, including HBO, HBO Latino, and PEOPLE EN ESPANOL. The campaign PSAs also feature other talent from across the Company, including Lauren Velez from HBO's hit series Oz and America Ferrera and Lupe Ontiveros from the upcoming HBO feature film Real Women Have Curves. Several of PEOPLE EN ESPANOL's "25 Most Beautiful" winners are also represented; including San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia, salsa singer Willy Chirino and actor/singer Carlos Ponce. Model Patricia Velazquez also participates in the PSA campaign.

An online version of the PSA is currently available at www.aoltw.com/hispanicheritage.

Kathy Bushkin, President of the AOL Time Warner Foundation and Senior Vice President of AOL Time Warner, said: "So many Hispanic students qualify for help to go to college but are unaware of the opportunities available to them. Knowing that 97% of Hispanics who receive a scholarship from the Hispanic Scholarship Fund get their college degree, we are excited to put the resources, reach and creative talent of AOL Time Warner behind this effort to make a difference in the Hispanic community."

Sara Martinez Tucker, President and CEO of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, said: "Although numerous Hispanics are achieving educational excellence, there is still a major gap in the educational attainment of Hispanics compared with other demographic groups. AOL Time Warner's support with this public awareness campaign will play a key role in helping us achieve our mission of doubling the rate of Hispanics earning a college degree to 18% by the year 2010."

HBO provided creative oversight and direction for the campaign. The PSAs were produced by advertising agency Dieste, Harmel and Partners.

The PSA directs viewers to HSF via 1-877-HSF-INFO, or to visit the online component of the campaign, which is available in English and Spanish at Network for Good (www.networkforgood.org), the online giving portal co-founded by the AOL Time Warner Foundation, Cisco and Yahoo. Here, a special Hispanic Heritage Month package provides information on and links to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and other premiere Latino educational and community organizations. Visitors can also make an online donation directly to these and other nonprofit groups as well as search a database of Latino service organizations for volunteer opportunities in communities across the country.
