At the heart of the campaign is a new series of print, Web and on-air public service announcements (PSAs) in English and Spanish that encourage young Latinos to explore and pursue a college degree. Featuring celebrities such as actress Rosie Perez, boxer Oscar De La Hoya and author Esmeralda Santiago, the PSA campaign will run nationally across Time Warner Cable systems, in Time Inc. publications and on the AOL service during Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 until October 15, 2002. Several AOL Time Warner divisions provided creative and in-kind support for this public awareness campaign, including HBO, HBO Latino, and PEOPLE EN ESPANOL. The campaign PSAs also feature other talent from across the Company, including Lauren Velez from HBO's hit series Oz and America Ferrera and Lupe Ontiveros from the upcoming HBO feature film Real Women Have Curves. Several of PEOPLE EN ESPANOL's "25 Most Beautiful" winners are also represented; including San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia, salsa singer Willy Chirino and actor/singer Carlos Ponce. Here, a special Hispanic Heritage Month package provides information on and links to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and other premiere Latino educational and community organizations.
