AOL Time Warner's unit expands TV broadcast rights in China.

AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services.  Time Warner Inc. said Tuesday its Chinese-language entertainment channel, China Entertainment Television Broadcast Ltd. ), has obtained the right to extend its reach nationwide in China.

The U.S. media giant said China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television has granted CETV a license, with effective immediately, to broadcast from China's central satellite platform to hotels and other authorized recipients across the country.

CETV has also been allowed to air its programs through additional cable systems in the cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen in southern China, which will double its penetration in these markets to more than 2 million homes, AOL Time Warner said in a statement.

CETV was granted cable television landing rights in China in October 2001 through a reciprocal carriage deal with China Central Television allowing CETV to be distributed via Guangdong Cable TV Networks Co. cable systems in southern China.
