AOL Networks Announces Availability of US Robotics x2T Technology in 410 Cities.

Completion of this trial makes it possible for AOL members to access the service at high speeds in 410 cities throughout the country.

In June, AOL announced the broad deployment of the field trial with 3Com, and assured members that they would upgrade 200 cities to x2 technology by the end of September. AOL has successfully completed this effort and has expanded the capability of access speeds up to 56K to 210 more cities, making it possible to access the x2 technology in a current total of 410 cities.

The deployment of the x2 technology in AOLnet, the world's largest dial-up network (1) The switched telephone network regulated by government and administered by common carriers. Also called "plain old telephone system" (POTS) and "public switched telephone network" (PSTN).
