:AOL) today announced that the worldwide membership of its flagship AOL service has surpassed the 27-million milestone.

During the climb to 27 million, AOL broke its single-day records for membership growth. On Christmas Day, AOL gained more than 70,000 new subscribers worldwide -- over 30% more than Christmas Day 1999.

In the US, AOL added more than 56,000 subscribers, and the international AOL services grew by about 14, 000 members. On December 12, 2000, the Company announced that AOL had surpassed 26 million subscribers worldwide.

AOL members are averaging more than 65 minutes on the service daily. In addition, AOL now is handling more than 2 million members who use the service simultaneously during peak periods.

Bob Pittman, Co-Chief Operating Officer of AOL Time Warner, said: "We are extremely pleased that AOL is experiencing such record-breaking membership growth, both in the US and internationally.
