AOL Members Record Legacy for Future Generations in America Online Millennium Time Capsule.

World's Largest Time Capsule to Close at Midnight on December 31,

Will Be Sealed and Preserved Until the Year 3000

America Online See AOL. , Inc., the world's leading interactive service, today announced its "last call" for members to participate in the AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services.  Millennium Time Capsule, the largest time capsule in the world.

In less than 48 hours, AOL will seal and preserve the online time capsule, not to be opened until the next millennium milestone -- the year 3000.

To date, in celebration of the new millennium, more than 40,000 AOL members have created and submitted entries to the AOL Time Capsule and recorded their legacy for future generations. At AOL Keyword: Time Capsule, members can submit up to 100 words of text and also have the option of linking to their AOL Hometown homepage.

AOL will accept entries up to midnight, December 31, 1999, and promises to preserve them by the best means possible, to be opened at the end of the 3rd millennium.

(2) The transmission of one network protocol within another.
. AOL will preserve the time capsule online by means of perpetual reproduction so that as long as AOL evolves and changes its content with the evolution of the online medium, the time capsule entries will be updated and preserved as well.

In addition, AOL will also preserve the time capsule entries offline via CD ROM and hard drive encapsulation.
