AOL And Klausner Technologies, Inc. Settle Patent Infringement Lawsuit; AOL Agrees To License Patents For VOIP Total Talk/Voicemail Services.

Many companies, including Vonage, 8x8 and AT&T (CallVantage), typically offer calling within the country for a  voicemail services, and that it has settled its lawsuit against AOL for infringement of US Patent No. 5,572,576.

Klausner Technologies, founded by Judah Klausner, inventor of the PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) A handheld computer for managing contacts, appointments and tasks. It typically includes a name and address database, calendar, to-do list and note taker, which are the functions in a personal information manager (see PIM).  and the electronic organizer, is owned by a group of private investors. It controls over 25 patents, worldwide, covering voicemail services in which subscribers receive visual identification of their new voice messages, and then selectively retrieve individual messages via their PCs or cell phones.

"AOL's voicemail services, now licensed under our patents, are an excellent example of our technology and its importance to the now burgeoning VOIP voice services which let consumers view and select their voicemails in the same way they view and select e-mails," said Judah Klausner.

"We are very pleased that AOL has chosen to settle our lawsuit and that we have received further confirmation that US Patent No. 5,572,576 is valid and enforceable," said Greg Dovel of Dovel & Luner, counsel for Klausner Technologies.
