AOL, Time Warner Merger -- Road to Convergence.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 10, 2000

As AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services.  and Time Warner announced plans to merge and create the world's largest media company, Nielsen//NetRatings offers insight and data on what this means to both companies.

"This partnership creates a unique value proposition to each company: AOL automatically expands its site content by leveraging Time Warner's myriad entertainment channels, while Time Warner just captured the Web's largest audience on any given site," said Allen Weiner, vice president of analytical services at NetRatings, Inc.

"The company AOL Time Warner is poised to make a push in convergence -- the fusion of TV and the Internet -- with their combined strengths."

 Nielsen//NetRatings, the merger will produce the largest property on the Internet, with a total combined audience of 47.1 million unique visitors A count of how many different people access a Web site. For example, if a user leaves and comes back to the site five times during the measurement period, that person is counted as one unique visitor, but would count as five "user sessions.  for the month of December. Yahoo!, the second largest property in December, had approximately 40.4 million unique audience.
