AOI Announces Introduction of Fiber to the Home Optical Components.SUGAR LAND, Texas -- Applied Optoelectronics, Inc., a leading manufacturer of laser diodes, photodetectors, and optical modules for fiber optic communications systems, today is introducing optical modules for Passive Optical Networks (PONs). AOI is offering bi-directional and tri-port optical blocks for Gigabit-PON (G-PON G-PON Gigabit-Passive Optical Network ) and Ethernet PON (E-PON) applications. These optical blocks incorporate the company's advanced laser diodes and photodiodes along with an integrated wavelength division multiplexers (WDMs) to enable full-duplex communications over a single optical fiber. Both types of modules are offered in a variety of configurations depending on the optical link budget required.
