Whittenbury, Ph.D. has been elected to the Company's board of directors with immediate effect. Dr. Whittenbury is Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Laser Directorate (US DOE/University of California) and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Director of the Laboratory. He is also a member of recently appointed external review committees for the National Ignition Facility (NIF), a very large laser system for research into thermonuclear fusion. During the Company's cooperation in the mid-1980s with Science Applications International Corporation ("SAIC"), a leading technical services and technology integration company undertaking diversified work for the US government, Dr. Whittenbury was Senior Vice President for Corporate Development at SAIC. In that capacity, Dr. Whittenbury became acquainted with the work of Herbert Sullivan, the Company's founder, and Sullivan's reputation at that time.
