ANTs Completes Formation of Compatibility Server Consortium.

Enthusiastic Response from Major Global Companies Seeking Migration Solution

BURLINGAME, Calif. -- Noting the enthusiastic response from a group of influential U.S. and European companies it approached, ANTs software inc. (OTCBB:ANTS), a leader in compatible, high-performance SQL data management systems, today announced it has successfully completed its membership drive for the newly created ANTs Compatibility Server Consortium. The ten Fortune 500 or equivalent companies selected as charter members of the consortium will work with ANTs under the leadership of Ari Kaplan, Independent Oracle User Group (IOUG) president and ANTs board member, to develop processes and programs for migrating pilot Sybase applications to the Oracle database using the ANTs Compatibility Server[TM].

The consortium is comprised of leading firms in financial services, travel, consumer goods, and other sectors. Each company is dedicating technical resources to this project to assist in the migration process, and is providing valuable feedback to help shape the future of this disruptive database consolidation technology Through this process, which will occur in the third quarter of this year, ANTs will work with some of the most sophisticated and demanding application developers and Sybase users, who will provide ANTs with the feedback it needs to ensure that the ANTs Compatibility Server will meet customers' real-world requirements.

While this consortium will focus on migrating applications from Sybase to Oracle, ANTs intends to replicate this model with future consortia to develop variants of the ANTs Compatibility Server supporting other combinations of source and target databases.

ANTs expects to release the first commercial version of the ANTs Compatibility Server by the end of this year.

According to Kaplan, the ANTs approach is unique in that, with minimal or no changes, applications can be retargeted from Sybase to the Oracle database through the Compatibility Server. Stored procedures, queries, triggers, error codes, and other functionality from the Sybase database run natively on the Compatibility Server, which also connects natively to the new Oracle databases. The Compatibility Server is based on the compatibility and advanced connectivity technologies developed over the last two years by ANTs for its flagship ANTs Data Server.

Although today's migration tools typically automate about 50 to 60 percent of the effort required to migrate an application from one database to another, completing the remainder of the migration requires difficult, costly and time-consuming manual efforts. The ANTs Compatibility Server is designed to extend current migration tools to automate the entire process.

The ANTs Compatibility Server avoids costly application rewrites by allowing continued use of Sybase native access libraries (JDBC, ODBC, DB-LIB or CT-LIB), and automates the translation of all the database objects. In addition to the automation of tables, views, synonyms, constraints and triggers migrations, stored procedures and other server-side application code can be migrated without the immense difficulty of maintaining computer-generated code.
