ANTONIO TAKES THREAT IN STRIDE.

Confirming that he has been the target of racially motivated death threats, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Antonio Ramon Villaraigosa (born Antonio (Tony) Ramon Villar, Jr. on January 23, 1953) is the mayor of Los Angeles, California. He is the first Latino mayor of Los Angeles since Cristobal Aguilar in 1872.  on Tuesday downplayed the danger and said he would not back away from his stands on controversial issues such as immigration immigration, entrance of a person (an alien) into a new country for the purpose of establishing permanent residence. Motives for immigration, like those for migration generally, are often economic, although religious or political factors may be very important. .

The disclosure of the threats was made Monday by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger (German pronunciation (IPA): [ˈaɐ̯nɔlt ˈaloɪ̯s ˈʃvaɐ̯ʦənˌʔɛɡɐ]  in what the mayor said he believed was a sense of outrage over how the debate over immigration was heating up.

Villaraigosa said the FBI has been looking at the threats.

"Quite honestly, I've had threats before that were taken more seriously," Villaraigosa said. "I had threats when I was running for this job and I've had threats since. I have complete confidence in my security team."
