ANTENNAS, GREEK THEATRE TOP LOBBYIST CAUSES.

Six lobbying firms spent more than $227,000 collectively trying to influence regulations on the construction of cellular antennas on private property. Seven different lobbying firms spent more than $127,000 on the Greek Theatre issue.

Cellular antennas have been the source of a major dispute among companies and residents, with firms arguing for more sites to keep pace with demand and residents protesting their appearance and possible health risk. It is a home for live music and southern-inspired cuisine, whose clubs celebrate African-American culture, specifically  fighting to win the concession contract from the Nederlander Group.

As a result of the controversy, a new request for bids is being prepared by the city Recreation and Parks Commission. House of Blues, however, has filed a $10 million legal action against the city for failing to award it the contract.

Other highly lobbied projects for the first quarter include more than $118,000 spent on the Playa playa
 or pan or flat or dry lake
