ANTELOPE VALLEY PAINTERS CAPTURE DESERT'S BEAUTY AT GALLERY SHOW; ALLIED ARTS ASSOCIATION EXHIBITING 60 ARTWORKS.

The Antelope Valley's premier arts association is hosting a six-week show of its members' depictions of the desert's natural beauty.

Painting executed in the medium of acrylic resins—synthetic resins that dry rapidly, are water-soluble, and serve as a vehicle for any pigment. Its effects may range from the transparent brilliance of watercolour to the density of oil paint.

Hosted by the half-century-old Allied Arts Association, the exhibition opens with a free public reception to meet the artists from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Allied Arts Cedar Centre, 44857 Cedar Ave.

The works will be on display until Oct. 4. The gallery is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.

The Antelope Valley
 artists are on display. All are available for purchase.

This is the association's third show in its gallery, which opened in April in what was Lancaster's Depression-era original civic center.

The art group bought the center in 1994 from the city, and has spent the past three years refurbishing its five buildings, which once contained the Antelope Valley's courthouse, jail, health clinic and sheriff's station.
