Ruptured gas lines remained opened for about 2-1/2 hours before gas company officials were able to shut off the 2-inch main and complete repairs, said Denise King, a spokeswoman for The Gas Co.

Service was restored to residents at 3 p.m. after the broken water main and gas main were repaired.
