ANTELOPE VALLEY: BRIEFLY : SUSPICIOUS FIRES FOUGHT IN LANCASTER.


LANCASTER - Firefighters were kept busy Wednesday afternoon after a series of suspicious fires broke out about an hour apart from each other.

Firefighters responded to downtown Lancaster three times Wednesday afternoon at 2:19, 3:30 and 4:17, extinguishing the small blazes blaze 1

Two brush fires were reported at Fern Avenue and Jackman Street and a third fire was reported at 819 W. Newgrove St., between Fern Avenue and Geona Avenue, fire officials said.

 one man and were searching a west Palmdale neighborhood Wednesday for two others in connection with an earlier bank robbery.

Sheriff's officials said two or possibly three men robbed a Home Savings of America branch at 50th Street West and Avenue M, shortly after 4 p.m.

``Two suspects possibly three entered the bank,'' said Deputy Paul Ullman. ``After taking an unknown amount of cash, the three left the bank in a small, dark-colored vehicle.''

Sheriff's deputies spotted a similar Suburban minutes later in front of a house at 45th Street West and Avenue N-8. Deputies detained a man they suspect might have been the driver in the robbery. The search continued for other suspects.
