The Antelope Valley

The National Weather Service predicted partly to mostly cloudy skies over the valley today with a chance of afternoon showers, and breezy winds.

The Weather Service said the snow level would be at 3,000 to 4,000 feet this morning, rising to 5,000 to 6,000 feet in the afternoon.

 Dryden Flight Research Center The Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC), located inside Edwards Air Force Base, is an aeronautical research center operated by NASA. On March 26, 1976 it was named in honor of the late Hugh L.  at Edwards Air Force Base Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. It is one of the largest air force bases in the United States and has the world's longest runway. . Bauer has worked on Lancaster's education ad hoc committee ad hoc committee A committee formed with the purpose of addressing a specific issue or issues, which theoretically is disbanded once its raison d'etre is finished  and served in 1992 and 1993 on the city's Partners program that developed ideas for improving city government.

Bauer was nominated to the commission by Councilwoman Deborah Shelton and will serve until April 1998.

Valley folk music club sets meeting

QUARTZ HILL - Antelope Valley Folk Music Club will hold an organizational meeting from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the home of Chris Hingley, 4646 W. Ave. M-8.

The purpose of the group is to share their interest in folk and traditional acoustic music by getting together and sharing songs and playing music together. Beginners are welcome.

Palmdale school to unfurl 100 flags

PALMDALE - Ocotillo School will host a community program called ``United We Stand'' at 5 p.m. Thursday at the school, 38737 Ocotillo School Drive.

With support from private companies, Ocotillo School has acquired more than 100 national flags representing countries that participated in the 1996 Olympics. The event is an opportunity for the community to come together to promote community cooperation.
