ANTELOPE VALLEY: BRIEFLY : NAKED BODY FOUND IN ANGELES FOREST.


ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST The Angeles National Forest (ANF) was established by executive order on December 20, 1892 as the San Gabriel Timberland Reserve. It covers over 2,600 km² (650,000 acres) and is located in the San Gabriel Mountains of Los Angeles County, just north of the metropolitan area of Los  - Members of a fire crew working beside Aliso Canyon Road found a naked body in a brush-filled ravine.

Authorities released little information on the body, refusing to reveal whether it was that of a male or a female or how long it might have been there.

``We do not know the cause of death or any of the circumstances,'' homicide Detective Larry Brandenburg said. ``We are considering it a homicide.''

The body was discovered shortly before noon Tuesday. Authorities were still investigating Wednesday at the scene, about a mile west of Angeles Forest Highway The Angeles Forest Highway traverses the Angeles National Forest and connects the Los Angeles basin to the Antelope Valley by going up and over the San Gabriel Mountains. The highway is variously known as County Road N-3 or FH-59 or the Palmdale cutoff. It is about 25 miles long. , and the body had not been moved.

Identity of woman hit by car unknown

PALMDALE - Authorities are trying to identify a woman hit by a car and killed Tuesday night as she walked across Avenue R west of 30th Street West.

Deputies described the woman as approximately 45 to 50 years old, possibly white or Latino, and wearing a gray sweat suit and white tennis shoes tennis shoes nplzapatillas fpl de tenis

Deputies said she was walking south across Avenue R at 27th Street East when she was hit by an eastbound 1983 Chevrolet station wagon. Driver Jon Ruffner, 41, and his passenger, his 18-year-old son Jon Jr., were not injured, officials said.

Deputies seek help tracing fire starters

PALMDALE - Sheriff's deputies asked Wednesday for the public's help in identifying the person or people responsible for a fire that caused $20,000 damage to a real estate office.

The fire started around 12:30 a.m. Monday in a storage shed at the rear of the RTH RTH Regular Trading Hours
