Palmdale council to meet Mondays

PALMDALE - Beginning in July, the Palmdale City Council will meet the second Monday of the month instead of on Wednesdays.

The move was made to accommodate Councilman Terry Judge, a sheriff's lieutenant, whose work schedule calls for him to work Wednesday evenings.

A.V. College to hold career open house

LANCASTER - Anyone seeking job training is encouraged to attend Antelope Valley College's Vocational Education Open House on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in rooms 666 and 668 at the college, 3041 W. Ave. K.

The college offers nearly 40 vocational programs including such areas as administration of justice, aeronautics and aerospace, air conditioning, refrigeration refrigeration, process for drawing heat from substances to lower their temperature, often for purposes of preservation. Refrigeration in its modern, portable form also depends on insulating materials that are thin yet effective.  and auto body repair, computer science and word processing. Visitors will be able to tour vocational labs, get help on planning educational goals, meet instructors, and get information on financial aid.

Archeology seminar planned in Lancaster

LANCASTER - A free archeological workshop will be held May 18 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Discovery Cove, 818 W. Lancaster Blvd.

Members of the Antelope Valley Archeological Society will be on hand to talk about desert artifacts artifacts
