ANTELOPE VALLEY: BRIEFLY : LANCASTER, PALMDALE TO FUND CRIME HOTLINE.


LANCASTER - Lancaster has agreed to join Palmdale in funding a local crime tip hotline.

The two cities will each contribute $3,000 a year for the operation of the hotline that will be managed by the sheriff's stations in Lancaster and Palmdale.

Lancaster will stop funding its membership in the national hotline WeTip. City appoints Salas to planning board

LANCASTER - George Salas has been named to the city Planning Commission, replacing Sal Martinez, who resigned Oct. 15.

Salas, 59, owner of a Lancaster business that prepares legal documents, has been a resident of the Antelope Valley since 1982. Salas retired from NASA NASA: see National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

The City Council appointed Salas to the commission Thursday night in a 5-0 vote.

Salas is a past board member of the United Way of Antelope Valley.
