LANCASTER - A 20-year-old Lancaster man who suffered major injuries Wednesday after he was struck by two cars, one of which dragged him 25 feet, died Friday, sheriff's officials said.

Joshua Hellwig was walking in a crosswalk across Lancaster Boulevard near 12th Street West shortly after 3 p.m. when he was struck. 4 suspects arrested in illegal dumping

PALMDALE - Four people have been arrested since Sept. 1 in a surveillance operation targeting illegal dumpers in Palmdale, sheriff's officials said.

Police seek motive for igniting of bomb

LANCASTER - Sheriff's officials said they know no motive for a bomb set on fire in front of an apartment early Thursday, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies found the two-liter soda bottle filled with gasoline in the 43500 block of Gadsden Avenue at 12:30 a.m. Thursday. It had been ignited, but did not explode, and no injuries were reported.
