PALMDALE - The California Transportation Commission approved $1.5 million to rehabilitate a 1.5-mile stretch of the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley.  just south of Palmdale.

The work will be performed on a stretch north of the Vincent ramp undercrossing to south of the California Aqueduct The California Aqueduct is a 444 mile (715 km)-long[1] aqueduct in the United States that carries water from Northern California to Southern California.  bridge. The work will involve resurfacing the freeway with pavement that has a life expectancy Life Expectancy

1. The age until which a person is expected to live.

2. The remaining number of years an individual is expected to live, based on IRS issued life expectancy tables.
 of more than 30 years, state transportation officials said.

The work will begin sometime this year and is expected to be completed in early 1998.

LANCASTER - State Treasurer Matt Fong Matt Fong (Chinese: 鄺傑靈; pinyin: Kuàng Jiélíng) (November 20, 1953–) is a Republican political leader from California and former state treasurer.  will speak about California's economic outlook at an Oct. 1 luncheon hosted by the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee.

The luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Desert Inn, 44555 Sierra Highway. Cost is $12. The luncheon is open to the public. Seating is limited.
