ANTELOPE VALLEY: BRIEFLY : FOSTER-CARE GROUP LOSES CONTRACT.Los Angeles County supervisors terminated a contract with a foster-care group home group home n. whose facilities include a house in Lancaster after its owner refused to allow county auditors to review more than $100,000 in expenditures. A small supervised residential facility, as for mentally ill people, in which residents typically participate in daily tasks and are often free to come and go voluntarily. Last week county officials moved to close Fred's Group Home's four facilities in Lancaster, Compton and South Central Los Angeles after operator Fred Baker refused to allow county auditors to review the unexplained expenditures. Baker said the county does not have the authority to review his finances or programs. ``That's the (responsibility of the) state Department of Social Services,'' Baker said. Allegations that he misappropriated the money are a ``total lie,'' he said. A February program audit of the group home revealed 50 program deficiencies, including unclean facilities and inadequate food, according to Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke. ?13- City News Service Station to display stolen bicycles LANCASTER - People who have filed stolen bicycle reports can visit the Lancaster sheriff's station Saturday to inspect bicycles recovered by deputies over the past month, officials said. The bicycles only will be available for viewing between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the station, 501 W. Lancaster Blvd. Individuals should bring along any proof of ownership. It is open to any person who has reported a bicycle stolen this year and has a stolen bicycle report on file at the station.
