 350 acres and injured a firefighter may have been started by a discarded cigarette, fire officials said Wednesday.

Fire officials said they are still investigating the fire, which broke out about 6 p.m. Tuesday near 70th Street West and Avenue K and was fanned by 35 mph winds.

``Major structures were threatened but nothing was lost,'' said Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Fire Capt. Michael Jasperson.

One firefighter was treated for an eye injury, officials said.

Teacher aide says drugs are not hers

 was arrested after deputies found a vial of methamphetamine in her purse when they searched a rural Palmdale home, sheriff's officials said Wednesday.

Nancy Lindstrom, 45, of Lancaster, who was booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, was arrested April 29 as narcotics narcotics n. 1) techinically, drugs which dull the senses. 2) a popular generic term for drugs which cannot be legally possessed, sold, or transported except for medicinal uses for which a physician or dentist's prescription is required.  deputies served a search warrant at a house and trailer in the 2100 block of West Avenue M-8.

Officials said Lindstrom told them the methamphetamine was not hers and that she did not know how it got into her purse. She was found in the trailer, deputies said.

Robert William, 35, who lived at the home, was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sale. Deputies said they found a quarter-pound of methamphetamine with a street value of $14,000 in the house.

Girls' soccer club to hold A.V. tryouts

PALMDALE - Tryouts will be held this month for an under-11 girls' soccer club.
