ANTELOPE VALLEY: BRIEFLY : BOY, GRANDFATHER HURT IN 2-CAR CRASH.


LEONA VALLEY - A 7-year-old Palmdale boy and his 68-year-old grandfather were injured in a collision Tuesday with another vehicle on Elizabeth Lake Road, deputies said.

Fire strike team stationed in A.V.

Hill to run for slot on hospital board

LANCASTER - City Finance Director Gary Hill Gary Hill (born in 1951, Santa Monica, California, U.S.) is an American artist who lives and works in Seattle, Washington.

Mojave district courts new chief

MOJAVE - Mojave Unified School District A unified school district is a school district which includes both primary school (kindergarten through middle school or junior high) and high school (grades 9-12). In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts.  trustees have offered a contract to the superintendent and principal of a small school district in Northern California to replace Superintendent Ed Baldwin, who is retiring.

The board voted 4-0 at Tuesday's meeting to offer the job to Wallace McCormick, who is the top administrator at Maxwell Unified School District in Colusa County. McCormick is scheduled to discuss contract details with the board later this week, officials said.

Baldwin is stepping down after serving more than three decades in the district.

Area school board fills two vacancies

LAKE HUGHES - Hughes-Elizabeth Lakes Union School District trustees have hired a new superintendent and appointed a man to fill the seat left vacant by a departing trustee.

The board voted unanimously at Tuesday's meeting to hire Tom Guthrie, formerly superintendent at the New Jerusalem School District near Tracy in Northern California. Guthrie replaces Michael Harris, who left to take over as superintendent of the Taft City School District.

The board also named David Hearle to replace Joseph Monticone, who has moved out of the area, officials said. The Hughes district has one school and 500 students.
