ANTELOPE VALLEY: BRIEFLY : BARRICADED SUSPECT ELUDES SWAT TEAM.

PALMDALE - Authorities are seeking a man who allegedly threatened to kill his wife and then fled from his Palmdale house before SWAT team deputies, thinking he was barricaded inside, entered the home.

The incident began about 8 p.m. Sunday when deputies went to the 37600 block of 12th Street East on a family disturbance call, said Deputy Carrie Stuart of the sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

``Deputies learned that the suspect, who was heavily armed, had threatened to kill his wife and had barricaded himself alone inside his residence,'' Stuart said.

Deputies sent for a Special Weapons and Tactics team and evacuated about 75 people from nearby homes. The SWAT team entered the house about 4 a.m. and searched the residence, but the man was gone, Stuart said.
