PALMDALE - Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  professor Neil Weisenberger was appointed to fill the Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency board vacancy left by the death of director Norm Vander Hyde.

``I believe myself to be pro-active on water conservation and conservative on money management,'' Weisenberger said in the announcement of his appointment released by the water agency. His appointment was made Tuesday by the agency board.

Weisenberger will represent the board's Division No. 6, which covers primarily east Lancaster. The vacancy was created by the Jan. 24 cancer death of Vander Hyde, who had been elected in November.

Firefighters issue call for weed abatement

ROSAMOND - Kern County firefighters are urging residents to clear weeds and brush around buildings to reduce the danger from wildfire.
