ANTELOPE VALLEY: BRIEFLY : 8-YEAR-OLD BOY SERIOUSLY BURNED.

LEONA VALLEY - An 8-year-old boy was seriously burned Tuesday when he grabbed a power line while climbing a tree, firefighters said.

The boy, whose name was not released, suffered third-degree burns on his face, hands, back, shoulders and calves, but was conscious and talking when firefighters arrived, officials said.

The boy had been playing with friends shortly before 5 p.m. in a neighbor's yard in the 39800 block of 87th Street West. After he was burned, he somehow managed to climb down the tree, firefighters said.

``He was a pretty brave kid,'' said Firefighter Joe Thompson.

The boy was lying on the lawn when firefighters arrived. He was flown by helicopter to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, but his condition was not immediately available.
