ANTELOPE VALLEY: BRIEFLY : 12 YOUTHS CITED IN CURFEW SWEEP.

PALMDALE - Twelve juveniles were cited late Friday night during a curfew sweep, sheriff's deputies said.

Six deputies patrolling throughout Palmdale between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. targeted people under the age of 18 who were out on the street without legal purposes.

``You have to have a purpose for being out after 10 p.m. and before sunrise,'' said Dymerski. ``These kids were just loitering.''

Runner will speak to alcohol group

PALMDALE - Republican California State Assembly Candidate George Runner will speak to members of the High Desert Alcohol Policy Coalition at 10 a.m. Friday.

The former Lancaster city councilman and mayor is expected to speak about the state alcoholic beverage control measures, existing and proposed, at the United Way headquarters at 190 Sierra Court, Suite B-1.

According to Ray Chavira, chairman of the High Desert Alcohol Policy Coalition, Runner aided the coalition in their efforts to secure passage of an alcohol zoning ordinance in Lancaster.

The coalition has been instrumental in getting the city of Palmdale and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to enact local alcohol zoning ordinances regulating the retail sale of alcoholic beverages.
