Musicians needed for children's ballet

LANCASTER - Auditions for the orchestra for ``Rainbow Goblins,'' an original children's ballet to be presented at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center in April, will be held 2 p.m. Jan. 19 in Room 331 at Antelope Valley College, 3041 W. Ave. K.

Composer Laura Hemenway, who will conduct the auditions, is looking for instrumentalists who can improvise as well as read notes. Hemenway describes the music as being a ``cross between Cirque du Soleil and `Riverdance.' ''

The audition will consist of the performance of one prepared piece, sight reading a passage from the ballet and improvising on different ``world music'' rhythmic patterns.
