The National Remembrance Reception will start off the weekend on Thursday, October 5 and will be held on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The reception is designed to recognize and honor the fallen firefighters. Other events that will take place during the Memorial Weekend include Family Day that will be held on Saturday, October 7 and a public National Memorial Service on October 8 in Emmitsburg, Maryland Emmitsburg was founded in 1785 and is in Frederick County, Maryland, just south of the Mason-Dixon line separating Maryland from Pennsylvania.
