ANSI approves latest BIFMA Vertical File standard.


GRAND RAPIDS Grand Rapids, city (1990 pop. 189,126), seat of Kent co., SW central Mich., on the Grand River; inc. 1850. The second largest city in the state, it is a distribution, wholesale, and industrial center for an area that yields fruit, dairy products, farm produce, , MI -- The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Assn. (BIFMA BIFMA Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer's Association ) International announced approval and release of the latest edition of the voluntary safety and performance standard for Vertical File, ANSI/BIFMA X5.3-2007, which replaces the 1997 edition.

The new edition reorders test procedures to be more user-friendly user-friendly - Programmer-hostile. Generally used by hackers in a critical tone, to describe systems that hold the user's hand so obsessively that they make it painful for the more experienced and knowledgeable to get any work done. , white also simulating rough handling of the product through a new "Drop Test." Other new tests have been added, as well as revisions to the old tests, and the new edition harmonizes applicable procedures with BIFMA's Storage Units Test Standard, ANSI/BIFMA X5.9-2004.

A copy of X5.3 will be provided complimentary to all BIFMA members and those individuals who participated in the ANSI (American National Standards Institute, New York, www.ansi.org) A membership organization founded in 1918 that coordinates the development of U.S. voluntary national standards in both the private and public sectors.
