Another fine start was blown by the bullpen.

The Dodgers and Padres were scoreless through seven innings but Khalil Greene Khalil Thabit Greene (born October 21, 1979 in Butler, Pennsylvania) is a Major League Baseball shortstop who plays for the San Diego Padres. His shot to left off reliever Takashi Saito gave the Padres a 3-0 victory Thursday in front of a crowd of 34,137 at Dodger Stadium     [ .

The Dodgers (12-17) had just two hits. They've lost five in a row and remained last in the National League West.

In the words of Dodgers manager Grady Little William Grady Little (born March 30, 1950 in Abilene, Texas) is a manager in Major League Baseball. He guided the Boston Red Sox from 2002 to 2003, and has been manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers since 2006. , they're nearing ``rock bottom.''

``I feel we're getting real close to that point,'' Little said. ``We're getting real close.''

Little used a team meeting after Wednesday's loss to remind players that they had a good offense. But the Dodgers struggled again against Padres starter Clay Hensley Clayton Allen Hensley is aMajor League Baseball starting pitcher in the San Diego Padres organization. He was born on August 31, 1979 in Tomball, Texas. He attended Lamar University in Beaumont, where he set a single season record with 127 strikeouts in 100 innings. , who was hit in the back of the head by a broken bat in the second inning. He remained in the game and continued to pitch well.

He had four stitches after the game and treatment during every inning.

``I felt a little woozy, but I still felt I could make my pitches,'' Hensley said. ``I tried not to do too much. I just tried to make pitches.''

Brett Tomko had a dominant start, striking out nine - a season-high for Dodger pitchers - walking two and allowing five hits in seven innings.

Navarro left the game in the second inning after he was hit by a foul tip on the right wrist. He has a bruised wrist and is scheduled to undergo X-rays today. Still, Tomko had equal success with catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. Mueller left with a sore right knee.

Tomko was replaced by reliever Saito (2-2), and then the usual bullpen shenanigans shenanigans

,'' Tomko said. ``Any time you lose a bunch of games in a row, it's not a good feeling. What can you do? You come back to try to win tomorrow. You can't sit and mope about it.''

Hensley allowed the only two Dodgers hits - one by Tomko - in six innings and struck out three and walked three. He retired eight consecutive batters, during which time he was hit, and the final five batters he faced. He threw just 77 pitches. He never went to a fullcount.

The Dodgers had just six baserunners. There was only one pitching mistake but it was costly. Saito knows that well.

``It's an important part of the game, I understand that,'' Saito said through an interpreter. ``It's my job. Now that I have a month under my belt, maybe opposing teams are understanding how I pitch.''

Navarro, who had just begun to find a groove with his swing, left when a ball appeared to glance off his glove and then hit his wrist. He stayed in after being examined by trainers, but after Castilla grounded out for the final out of the inning, Navarro was done.

Mueller, who left in the second inning and was replaced by Ramon Martinez at third, will undergo an MRI 1. (application) MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

``It was one of those things I tried to battle through,'' Mueller said. ``It continued to be an issue.''

Hensley was stunned after hit by the barrel of a broken bat on a groundout by Andre Ethier. Hensley turned around on the mound and never saw the bat sailing in the air.

He never lost consciousness but bent over, went down to his knees and rolled over on the mound. Trainers attended to Hensley and appeared to be taking out splinters from the broken bat.

Hensley walked off the field, went to the dugout and after about 10 minutes, ran back on the field. Fans groaned when they were shown the replay on the JumboTron.

Hensley might get a CAT scan CAT scan (kăt) [computerized axial tomography], X-ray technique that allows relatively safe, painless, and rapid diagnosis in previously inaccessible areas of the body; also called CT scan.  today. He can't argue with his results on the mound.

``Maybe I need to get hit in the back of the head of every outing,''he said.

Trevor Hoffman needed 15 pitches to finish off the game for his fifth save and 441st of his career.
