After making the playoffs as a wild-card entry, the Indians advanced to the Southern Section Div. I-AA final, losing 60-45 to Etiwanda at the Pond in Anaheim. Hart hadn't advanced to a boys' basketball final since 1959, but with the help of Ryan Wolfe - who came on strong during the playoffs - Hart qualified for the state tournament for the first time in school history, losing in the first round at Clovis. No other Foothill League boys' team advanced past the second round of the playoffs. In girls' basketball, three-time finalist Hart was upset in the second round of the Div. I-AA playoffs, but Valencia made it to the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Long Beach Poly. Hart's Ashlee Trebilcock enjoyed another terrific season, earning Daily News Player of the Year honors for the third consecutive season, while Kelley Tarver and Day Weathersby carried Valencia. No Foothill League boys' soccer team advanced past the first round of the playoffs, though Hart's Matt Valaika set a school single-season record with 27 goals. Canyon, led by Nini Loucks, was the area's top girls' soccer program, advancing to the Div. II quarterfinals. In baseball, Saugus - led by the pitching and hitting of league MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994.
