ANNUAL TREE FESTIVAL COMING DEC. 15.

PALMDALE - Local high schools' booster clubs hope for a boost in their bank accounts Dec. 15 from the Antelope Valley High Schools Education Foundation's 5th annual Festival of Trees.

Six Antelope Valley Union High School District schools, one continuation school, and a district club consisting of students with disabilities will each decorate a live tree.

The trees will then be auctioned off at the festival dinner with the proceeds going to school booster clubs.

The minimum bids for the trees is $400.

Four other trees will be decorated by the Education Foundation, Hometown Buffet, Coca-Cola, and Gottschalks with the proceeds going to the Education Foundation's scholarship fund.

``It's very successful, it brings a lot of the schools together,'' said Teri Wood, the foundation's director of marketing and special events. ``It brings people together to raise funds. Our main focus is to make sure the kids raise money. From there we hope to be able to put $10,000 into our scholarship fund. This way we have funds to help the kids continue their educational effort.''

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 at SR Technics' aircraft modification plant, 2825 E. Ave. P.

Tickets are $45 each, $75 per couple or $300 per table that seats eight. Tickets include dinner and entertainment.
