ANNUAL McDONNELL DOUGLAS-WEST EMPLOYEES COMMUNITY FUND DRIVE RAISES
MORE MONEY THAN IN ANY CAMPAIGN IN THE ORGANIZATION'S HISTORY
LONG BEACH, Calif., July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The annual McDonnell Douglas-West Employees Community Fund drive held in May raised more new money this year -- $713,422 -- than in any campaign in the 14-year history of the organization.
The amount of contributions by McDonnell Douglas (NYSE: MD) employees increased by 23 percent, while the number of employee- donors increased by 1,879 or 6 percent, said Beverly Hoskinson, executive director of the Employee Community Fund (ECF).
"The results of this campaign are a clear indication of the level of concern and commitment of McDonnell Douglas employees to their communities and their willingness to step up to the many new challenges those communities face today," Hoskinson said.
Through ECF, McDonnell Douglas employees contribute more than $3.8 million annually in support of Southern California charitable organizations that are dedicated to improving the quality of life in communities.
Organizations supported include food distribution centers, shelters, emergency care medical services, dental services, mental health centers, child care centers, medical research, as well as education and youth programs. Employees have a voice in the selection of organizations to be supported, and the fund is administered by an employee board of directors representing contributors.
