ANNOUNCEMENTS.Banks Kellie McAnany has been promoted from public relations officer to assistant vice president, public relations, at Northrim Bank, Anchorage, Alaska. Theodore J. Aldrich, formerly vice president at Delaware Place Bank, Chicago, has been named senior vice president, in charge of strategic planning, marketing and business development. Duane S. Keene was named vice president in the sales and service division of Citizens Business Bank of Ontario, Calif. Keene's previous experience includes more than 32 years with Bank of America. Matt Carter has been named chief marketing officer at Web-based Security First Network Bank, responsible for business and product development, advertising, public relations and market research. Carter has been with the firm since 1999. Michael Rouse was named chief operations officer, and Naveed Ashraf has been appointed chief information officer. Security First Network Bank, based in Atlanta, is wholly owned by Royal Bank of Canada. Dwight R. Larsen was selected vice president of BankValue, a division of United Bankers Bank of Bloomington, Minn. BankValue was formed in 1998 to provide stock valuations, marketing studies and merger/acquisition consulting for community banks. Larsen will direct the division's sales and marketing division. Jack Van Veen has been named first vice president and regional investment sales manager for Colonial Bank of Bonita Springs, Fla. He was previously vice president and investment consultant at another Florida financial institution. Catherine Gelinas has been appointed branch manager of the Naples office of Colonial Bank. Previously, she was market manager of another southwest Florida bank and senior mortgage officer at National City Mortgage. Ellen Lai has been named manager of the bank's Sanibel office. Paul Ricchi has been named vice president of commercial lending in the Boston office of MetroWest Bank. Ricchi will be based at a new office at 15 Broad Street in the financial district. Brad Clarke, formerly branch manager for Transouth Financial Corp., has been named vice president of consumer finance at interState Net Bank, Cherry Hill, N.J. He will be responsible for home equity loans and auto finance. InterState Net Bank is a startup Web-based bank that anticipates beginning operations this year, pending regulatory approval. Daniel J. Wollschlager and William R. Wider Jr. have been promoted to executive vice presidents at National City Bank of Michigan/Illinois, Wollschlager is executive vice president and chief credit officer for the Southeast Michigan region, and Wider holds the same position for the rest of Michigan and the state of Illinois. Scott E. Campbell has been appointed regional manager of charitable and endowment services. Terri L. Crate has been appointed consumer loan officer for Ledyard National Bank in Hanover, N.H. Previously she had been senior commercial loan administrator. Paul Frenkiel has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Republic First Bancorp in Philadelphia. Frenkiel was previously chief financial officer for Jefferson Bank. Linda A. Niro is the new senior vice president and chief financial officer at The Provident Bank, Jersey City, NJ. Niro, a graduate of the bank's management training program, has been with the firm more than 20 years. Service Providers Shawn D. Morris has been named executive vice president and chief marketing officer for FISI-Madison Financial in Nashville, Tenn. Morris will direct marketing efforts of FISIMadison Financial, Benefit Consultants Inc. and long Term Preferred Care Inc. Before joining FISI-Madison, Morris was president of the affinity division of GMAC Insurance. He is vice chairman of the Direct Marketing Association's financial services council. Robert Surridge, formerly vice president of strategic implementation and development for The Money Store, has been named senior vice president of the lending division at AnyTime Access, a Digital Insight company. He will be responsible for management of the firm's Sacramento, Calif. office, including the accounting, human resources and business development functions for the division. AnyTime Access, which was acquired by Digital Insight in July 2000, provides Internet and rail-center loan services to financial institutions. Phillip Hudson, former executive vice president and director of marketing for First Security Corp., has been named president and chief executive officer of Aspen Consulting Group. Aspen, which is based in Salt Lake City, specializes in developing sales and marketing for financial services firms in the United States, Europe and South America. Gerry Hurwitz has been appointed group head of the interactive marketing group of Direct Marketing Network Direct Marketing Network, which is based in Houston, offers a variety of Web- and e-mail-based marketing services to retailers and financial institutions. Ron Sterlekar has been appointed sales and marketing manager. Al Tiley is the new president and chief executive officer of Companion Systems Inc., which produces interactive products for retailers and financial institutions. Tiley has been with Companion Systems for five years. Claritas Inc., a San Diego provider of intelligent marketing information and target marketing services, has appointed Karen Korrell to the position of industry practices leader for the Claritas Financial Services Group. She will work from the Arlington, Va. office. Previously, Korrell was chief marketing officer for F&M Bancorp of Frederick, Md. The financial marketing services division of ICT Group Inc. named two key appointments. Michael M. Hallowell, formerly sales associate and director of sales for ICT's telecommunications and financial service industry segments, has been promoted to vice president for sales and business development. Thomas J. Lovinsky has also been named vice president, sales and business development. Lovinsky joined ICT after more than 10 years experience with mortgage lenders, most recently as vice president of sales and business development at Chapel Mortgage Corp. ICT Group, based in Langhorne, Pa., provides customer relationship management services. Design Forum of Dayton, Ohio, has appointed Ginny Focke director of public relations. Previously, she was director of publicity and event marketing for ElderBeeman Corp. Design Forum offers Internet consulting, retail planning and design and other marketing services. Mergers and Acquisitions Pioneer American Bank has merged with Pennstar Bank, with Pennstar as the surviving entity. The merger gives Pennstar, headquartered in Scranton, a total of 41 branches and 70 ATM locations in six Pennsylvania counties and in Port Jervis, N.Y. Penastar is now the largest community bank based in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Agreements and Alliances Politzer & Haney, of Newton, Mass., and 724 Solutions Inc. of Toronto, Canada, have signed a co-marketing agreement that will add wireless corporate banking services to their Internet banking programs. Sedona Corp. and DataMentors Inc. announced an agreement whereby Sedona will incorporate DataFuse "householding" technology into Sedona's Intarsia Internet-based customer relationship management software. DataMentors will, in turn, become a reseller of the Sedona product. The alliance will enable small to mid-size financial service organizations to use back-end household data to identify and target customers more efficiently. Using DataFuse algorithms, the firms say, financial institutions will be able to determine products and marketing strategies appropriate for an entire households based on data available for a few members of the households. National Data Corp. agreed to acquire the merchant card service business of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Pending regulatory approval, Canadian Imperial will sell its merchant card business to National Data in exchange for a 26.25 percent equity in the business, once it is spun off from National Data as planned. The spinoff firm will be known as Global Payments, Inc. FleetBoston Financial and Miradiant, have entered into an alliance, through which FleetBoston will provide agent bank services for Miradiant's global online accounts payable/accounts receivable online network, The two firms will also enter into a co-marketing agreement to provide Miradiant's Web-based financial settlement capability to Fleet's corporate clients and online marketplaces. As part of the alliance, Fleet also developed "Settlement Agent," a business-to-business product that supports electronic online invoicing, negotiation and settlements. Good Deeds Staffers at Colonial Bank of Bonita Springs, Fla., volunteered to help build two houses in East Naples under the auspices of Habitat for Humanity. About 12 percent of the banks employees, representing all 10 branches, volunteered their labor for the projects. It was the third time Colonial Bank employees have assisted in Habitat for Humanity building projects Awards Sonja Bresset of First Federal of Michigan has been awarded the In-Store Branch Manager of the Year award by International Banking Technologies. The award is based on branch opening date, total core deposits, outstanding loans, the average number of new accounts opened each month, the cross-sell ratio and the average amount of time employees send in the store aisles each month. Since her branch opened in September, 1998, Bresset's team's deposit base has grown to $16 million. It achieved a cross-sell ratio of 2.5 accounts per customer and averages 80 new checking relationships each month. |
