ANGELUS GETS A TV BLESSING.

THE watchdog rejected claims that the Angelus is a case of religious bias and should not be screened. A man complained that broadcasting the prayer is affording the Church a special place that no other belief system receives. He said he found it offensive when the Angelus was broadcast directly before the news of the scandal of the abuse of children by the Catholic religious orders. An RTE spokesman said: "The broadcast has to be seen in the context of their overall coverage of religious affairs on radio and TV. "Whilst they recognise that it is a Catholic prayer, RTE believes that people of other faiths can use the minute as an opportunity for reflection or personal prayer."
