Byline: Joe Haakenson Staff Writer

OAKLAND - Oakland A's pitcher Tim Hudson Timothy Adam Hudson (born July 14, 1975 in Salem, Alabama[1] ) is a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who plays for the Atlanta Braves. Hudson began his major league career with the Oakland Athletics (1999-2004) and played his last two years of college  has so much potential, the Angels reportedly asked for him in exchange for Jim Edmonds James Patrick "Jim" Edmonds (born June 27, 1970 in Fullerton, California) is a left-handed batter who plays for the St. Louis Cardinals. The 24-year-old Hudson has shown this season why he is so highly thought of, taking a 10-2 record, including a nine-game winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

The Angels, however, gave Hudson a beating unlike any he's experienced in the majors, and topped the A's in the process, 12-3, before 13,236 at the Oakland Coliseum.

The victory propelled the Angels past the A's and into sole possession of second place in the AL West for the first time since May 30. The offense flexed its muscle against Hudson, who beat the Angels July 2 in Anaheim.

Hudson (10-3) had not lost since April 20 in Cleveland, going 9-0 with a 3.56 ERA in his next 14 starts. Including last season he was 21-4 in his career, one of only five pitchers in major-league history to win 21 of their first 25 decisions, joining King Cole, Whitey Ford, Vida Blue and Juan Guzman.

But the Angels hammered him for nine runs and 12 hits, including four by Orlando Palmeiro, three by Tim Salmon and home runs by Matt Walbeck (No. 5), Garret Anderson (No. 28 and 100th of his career) and Vaughn (No. 25). Vaughn's homer with one out in the sixth spelled the end for Hudson.

The Angels had 16 hits in all.
