ANGELS NOTEBOOK: WEAVER TALKS ALL BUT DONE.

Byline: Joe Haakenson Staff Writer

ANAHEIM - Both agent Scott Boras Scott Boras (b. November 2, 1952 in California) is a sports agent for professional baseball players. He is the president of Scott Boras Corporation, which holds its headquarters in Newport Beach, California.  and Angels general manager Bill Stoneman
William Hambly Stoneman III (born April 7, 1944, in Oak Park, Illinois) is a consultant for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball. From 1999 to October 15, 2007, he served as the general manager of the Angels.
said there were no new developments in negotiations regarding pitcher Jered Weaver Jered David Weaver (born October 4, 1982 in Northridge, California), is a Major League Baseball starting pitcher with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Jered attended college at Long Beach State University where he was the 2004 College Baseball's Golden Spikes Award winner.
     Saturday, with Monday's 9 p.m. deadline looming.

However, both parties are far from bored these days, as Stoneman continues to look for ways to improve the club, and Boras Bo·rås

has plenty of major-league clients. Among Boras' clients is pitcher Jarrod Washburn Jarrod Michael Washburn (born August 13, 1974 in La Crosse, Wisconsin) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Seattle Mariners. Drafted by the California Angels in the 2nd round of the 1995 amateur draft out of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Washburn won the final game , who is eligible for free agency after the season.

Washburn has said he's always wanted a multi-year deal with the Angels, who so far have been reluctant to go that route. Boras, however, said it isn't necessarily a sign the Angels don't want Washburn back.

``The team's whole policy is year to year,'' Boras said. ``It's not an indication they don't want to sign a guy. Obviously they value him, they tendered him a contract (for this season, worth $6.5 million).''

If the Angels are not interested in re-signing Washburn, it's likely they would trade him before the end of the season instead of losing him to free agency. Stoneman could package Washburn with a highly touted minor leaguer Noun 1. minor leaguer - a player on a minor-league baseball team

, of which the Angels have many. Stoneman said when it comes to making a move, he sees no reason to wait until the July 31 trading deadline approaches.

``I don't attach timing to an opportunity to improve the club,'' he said. ``But you've got to attach that within reason. Over the last few years we've have chances to move our top flight (minor-league) players, and in return get good major-league players, but expensive major-league players.''

--Not in the swing: Vladimir Guerrero (shoulder) still has not swung a bat since injuring his shoulder May 20 and it seems unlikely he'll be ready to play by June 5, when he's eligible to come off the disabled list.
