ANGELS NOTEBOOK: SHUFFLE IN ROTATION POSSIBLE.

SEATTLE -- With three off days still to come this month, the Angels' coaching staff has been looking at a possible rotation shuffle.

Nothing is likely to happen with Thursday's day off, but days off Sept. 18 and 21 are conveniently placed to be of assistance. On Sept. 22, the Angels play the first of seven games against the Oakland Athletics “Philadelphia Athletics” redirects here. For other uses, see Philadelphia Athletics (disambiguation).

``There are two days off before that series and that's when you can look a little for matchups and things like that,'' manager Mike Scioscia

If the matchups with the A's were to take place this week, Joe Saunders Joseph Francis "Joe" Saunders (born June 16, 1981 in Falls Church, Virginia) is a Major League Baseball left-handed starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Saunders played college baseball at Virginia Tech, where he compiled a 27-7 career record.
would be the likely candidate to have a start either pushed back or skipped.

When Scioscia was generically asked about changes to the rotation, he brought up Saunders' name.

``As of right now (we won't make changes), but we'll see where we are as our guys finish these next two starts and where we're going,'' Scioscia said. ``But no, we're still looking for Looking for

A's in their heads: Oakland's winning ways are starting to take a mental toll on the Angels, who can't seem to make up ground even when they do put together a winning run.

``God, we were talking about it with (Yankees third-base coach) Larry Bowa,'' Orlando Cabrera said. ``You look at the numbers and you don't see guys with 90, 100 RBIs. Nobody is hitting .300. Then you see they score five, six runs every day.''

The Angels went 7-3 on their just-completed homestand and made up just one game in the standings.

Friendly foe: Now a mere mortal, Jered Weaver will try to put together a new win streak when he takes on the Seattle Mariners today. Weaver already has defeated the Mariners twice this season, giving up a combined one earned run in 14 innings.

``It would be nice to start another streak up but it's not really what I'm paying attention to,'' Weaver said.
