Byline: Gabe Lacques Staff Writer

ARLINGTON, Texas Arlington is a city in Tarrant County, Texas (USA) within the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. According to a U.S Census Bureau release, as of July 1, 2006 Arlington has an estimated population of 367,197.  - Third baseman third baseman

Troy Glaus Troy Edward Glaus (born August 3, 1976 in Tarzana, California) is a Major League Baseball player who plays third base for the Toronto Blue Jays. Previously, Glaus played with the Anaheim Angels (1998-2004) and the Arizona Diamondbacks (2005).  was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a right-shoulder bruise, a transaction the Angels hope will give his shoulder, bat and glove sufficient time to heal.

Glaus suffered the injury Monday, when he slipped on the Tropicana Field Coordinates:

confirmed the injury was a bruise.

The team recalled right-handed pitcher Mickey Callaway from his rehabilitation assignment and he joined the team Tuesday.

While the injury does not appear to be serious, manager Mike Scioscia said Glaus will need the entire DL period to heal. The move is retroactive to Tuesday. Glaus, who has never been on the DL in his five-year career, is eligible to return Aug. 5, though no timetable has been set for his return.

``We definitely know it's something that's going to take some time,'' Scioscia said. ``He does not want to come out of the lineup. He'll play through some issues. For him to admit something's wrong with his shoulder, you definitely get concerned. Hopefully, it will be short-term.''

Glaus' injury came at a time his season was hitting bottom at the plate and in the field.

Since June 9, he's hitting .149 (17 for 114), and he's hit just two home runs in his past 35 games. At the time of his injury, he was on pace for a .248, 27-homer, 84-RBI season; he drove in 111 runs last season. He's also committed 16 errors, most among American League third basemen, and has looked sluggish in the field on the current eight-game road trip.

``It will definitely give him a chance to get some cobwebs cob·web

out,'' Scioscia said. ``But if he could play, he'd definitely want to be out here.''

--Long man: Callaway was placed on the disabled list with shoulder tendinitis June 6 after he was forced to appear in four consecutive games, the last a 14-inning loss in Puerto Rico. He will be the long man out of the bullpen. Callaway was 1-0 with a 2.95 ERA in seven rehabilitation appearances, four of them starts, at Triple-A Salt Lake.

--Earlier inside: The gate behind home plate at Edison Field will open two hours before game time beginning with Friday's game against Oakland. Moving it up a half-hour will enable fans to watch part of the Angels' batting practice.

--And counting: Garret Anderson's two singles Wednesday extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
