OAKLAND -- Tim Salmon
Timothy James "Tim" Salmon (born August 24, 1968 in Long Beach, California) is a former Major League Baseball right fielder/designated hitter who played his entire career with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim franchise.
will suit up tonight to begin his final homestand as a major- leaguer.

The 13-year veteran, who missed all of last season and a large chunk of 2004 because of knee and shoulder injuries, is just two home runs shy of 300. He hit No. 298 on Sept. 17 at Texas while pinch-hitting.

Salmon figures to get some consistent at-bats this week if the Angels are officially eliminated from the playoffs. Expected to come are thunderous ovations for the longtime fan favorite who was instrumental in the team's run to the 2002 World Series.

``I don't expect anything,'' Salmon said when asked if he is prepared for the fan reception. ``Even when they do things like that, it always kind of surprises me. I'm very appreciative of it. I imagine there will probably be some of it, based on what we've seen throughout the year.''

The occasion of his final road game and hotel night as a visiting player was not lost on him this weekend.

``Yeah, my wife and I were joking about it,'' Salmon said. ``We went out to dinner (Saturday) night and I said, `Last night on the road. We survived.' ''

Colon update: Bartolo Colon is expected to return to Anaheim this week to have his partially torn rotator cuff rotator cuff

examined by team doctor Lewis Yocum. The right-hander continues to do his rehab in Arizona but still is a few months away from throwing.

``There is still a window that says he will be ready for the '07season,'' Angels manager Mike Scioscia
Michael Lorri "Mike" Scioscia (born November 27 1958 in Morton, Pennsylvania) is a former catcher and current Major League Baseball manager. His last name is pronounced SO-shuh. He is often referred to by the nickname Sosh.

his strength, how his rehab is going and when he's going to be physically ready to start that motion of picking up a ball. That will take a little more work than where he is now. It's impossible to put a date on it.''

Still recovering: Casey Kotchman Casey John Kotchman (born February 22, 1983 in St. Petersburg, Florida) is a Major League Baseball first baseman for Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He hit his first Major League home run on August 5 2005. In 47 games in 2005, Kotchman had 7 home runs and 22 runs batted in.  also is expected to be in town this week as he continues to recover from the effects of a virus contracted last offseason.

It still is not known if Kotchman will play some winter ball to help sharpen his swing heading into next season.

``Last report, he was feeling about 90 percent,'' Scioscia said.
