ANGELS NOTEBOOK: ROMERO FINDS NO RELIEF.

Byline: DOUG PADILLA Douglas ("Doug") Padilla (born October 4, 1956 in Oakland, California) is a former middle and long distance runner from the United States, who won the overall Grand Prix 1985 and the World Cup 5000m race in 1985.  Staff Writer

CLEVELAND -- J.C. Romero said his results have been embarrassing -- and that was before he gave up four runs (three earned) on two hits and two walks Saturday.

Romero has been a bust in his first season with the Angels as his 8.69 ERA would attest. And fixing the problem doesn't sound like it will be a simple process.

Manager Mike Scioscia
Michael Lorri "Mike" Scioscia (born November 27 1958 in Morton, Pennsylvania) is a former catcher and current Major League Baseball manager. His last name is pronounced SO-shuh. He is often referred to by the nickname Sosh.
says Romero needs to trust his pitches. Romero thinks his front shoulder is flying open during his delivery but can't seem to stop it.

``I can't even explain it,'' said Romero, who entered this season with a career 4.35 ERA and had a 1.89 mark in 81 appearances in 2002. ``I really don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

"Don't know the trade." A Street expression used whenever one party lacks knowledge of a trade or receives conflicting instructions from the other party.
what to say, man. I'm still trying to figure myself out. I'm so stunned about it that I don't have anything else to do but laugh.

``I've said it before that it's very embarrassing. We have four months to turn this thing around and I have to keep my head up and try to take advantage of every opportunity I get until I get it right. Personally it's getting tiring. I'm not used to this.''

Romero said he wants to meet with Scioscia today to pick the brain of the former catcher. He isn't afraid to admit that other people probably know more than he does. The main objective will be to get some control on his sinker Sinker

Scioscia came to the mound in the eighth inning after Romero walked the first two batters he faced. Romero slammed the rosin bag Noun 1. rosin bag - a bag filled with rosin; used by baseball pitchers to improve their grip on the ball

Campaigning on the perceived need for change after 23 years of conservative (Liberal Party of Australia) government, Labor put forward a  to go,'' meaning it is time to start pitching better.

``My biggest problem is my walks,'' he said. ``My walk-to-strikeout ratio In baseball statistics, walk-to-strikeout ratio (BB/K) is a measure of a hitter's plate discipline and knowledge of the strike zone. Generally, a hitter with a good walk-to-strikeout ratio must exhibit enough patience at the plate to refrain from swinging at bad pitches and  is horrible. Getting strike one has been horrible.''

--CENTERING ON ERSTAD: Scioscia a plans on putting Darin Erstad Darin Charles Erstad (born June 4, 1974 in Jamestown, North Dakota) is a first baseman/center fielder in Major League Baseball currently with the Chicago White Sox. Prior to 2007, he had played his entire career with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim franchise (1996-2006).  back in center field when he returns from his current rehabilitation assignment.

There was a thought that because of limited mobility, Erstad might return to first base where he played the previous two seasons and won a Gold Glove award.

He has been on the disabled list since May 8 with bone spurs and a bone bruise in his right ankle.

Erstad moved his rehab from Rancho Cucamonga to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

While Erstad was the designated hitter with the Quakes on Thursday, he will play center field with the Bees.

A decision on when to bring him back to the big-league club could come by the middle of this week.
